McVey Memorial Forest & Surrounding Area
"To establish, develop, and maintain a natural forest to be used as a public park and a sanctuary and refuge for wildlife."
Perfect location to stretch your legs while traveling Indiana State Road 1.   Covered picnic area and wooded walking trails.  History buffs will want to stop just north of the picnic area to read about the ghost town, Steubenville.   State Road 1 crosses the Mississinewa River by way of an impressive steel bridge.  Just a little more north (before State Road 28) one will find a memorial for three fallen soldiers from the War of 1812.

Modoc Gamebird Habitat
166 acres for bird watching and unmarked nature walks.  No permit is needed for birdwatching.  However, hunting permits must be obtained at the Wilbur Wright State Fish and Wildlife Area.

Rich Farm Garden Supply and Catalog Outlet
Just on the outskirts of Winchester you'll find what was judged "The Most Modern Farm In Indiana."  Alright, that was in 1905.  However, the oak barn and built-in equipment can still be seen.  You'll also be able to learn about and purchase items from one of the country's largest selections of heirloom seeds.  In addition, they have unusual varieties of plants, vegetables, herbs, and flowers.  A large variety of apple, other fruit trees, and vines (specializing in old and heirloom) are available.  The welcoming farm animals will make your visit fun for the whole family.   Seeds, feed, and dried herbs are available all year.  However, live plants and fresh produce are seasonal.

In addition to cutting your own tree, you can learn about a variety of firs, pines, and spruces.  Visit the Christmas Shop Barn during your visit.  With complimentary hot cider in hand, browse through skilled-artisan crafts, Christmas ornaments, Hoosier soy candles, and many one-of-a-kind gifts.  Fresh-handmade evergreen wreaths, swags, roping, grave blankets, saddles, advent wreaths, and centerpieces are also available.

Stern's Herbs 'n' Bloom LLC
